The Christian in the Polis

Abstract

There are many points of view regarding the relationship between State and Religion. The prevailing debate concerns the legitimacy of Christian participation in public life based on their faith convictions, whether in politics, legislative activity, or the practice of law. It is important, first and foremost, to have the correct understanding of a secular State, as well as to grasp the concept of collaborative secularism in Brazil. Equally significant for Christians is the teaching of Jesus about their relationship with the State. Finally, theory and doctrine should culminate in practical application that addresses these questions, ensuring correct engagement of Christian citizens in the public sphere.
